Close your account

How to close your Horizon Vikoba account, and what happens to your data when you do.

1From the Horizon Vikoba app

  1. Sign in and open the More tab.
  2. At the bottom, tap Leave group or close account.
  3. Choose Close my account, add a reason if you like, and tap Ask to close my account.

2From the web portal

Sign in at app.horizonvikoba.com, open Your account, choose Leave group or close account, and follow the same steps.

3By email

If you can no longer sign in, write to info@horizonvikoba.com from the address you sign in with and say that you want your account closed. We answer within two working days.

4What happens next

Your account belongs to one or more savings groups, and your contributions and loans are part of each group’s shared book. So closing it is a request that each group’s officers approve — they may first ask you to settle a loan you still owe or one you guarantee. You can follow the request, or withdraw it, on the same screen.

When the last group approves, your login is closed straight away and you are signed out on every device. If you are not an active member of any group, it is closed at once.

5What is removed and what is kept

  • Closed at once: your login, your password and every signed-in session. Nobody can sign in as you again.
  • Kept by your group: the money records — contributions, loans, repayments, guarantees and share-outs — with your name and member number on them. Other members’ balances are calculated from them, and the group may be required to keep financial records by law.
  • Removed on request: your photograph, phone number, national ID number and address. Email info@horizonvikoba.com and we will remove them, other than anything we must keep for tax or legal reasons.

When a whole group closes its account, its records are deleted within 30 days. The privacy policy has the details.
